Magazine Covers Analyses

The colours on the magazine cover are all related to the character that is on the front. The masthead “empire” is red, this could be because the characters main feature that he is most well-known for is his lips and as there are red the title is also red. The main cover line “meet the joker” matches the characters hair and clothes this fits in well with the colour scheme also as these colours attract the reader as they stand out well and are recognisable colours to fans of the character. The font of this is in messy disturbing font which could be seen as a way to connect to the character. The character on the front over laps the master head, this could suggest that the character is bigger than the magazine and also he is so well know that people may see this character and just simply buy the magazine as he is in it. Above the magazine name you see “the dark knight” and “world exclusive” in white, this again connects to the character as he is known for his white makeup on his face and also because it stands out and connects to the batman sign in between the two titles. The batman sign should give knowledge to anyone who is unaware who the character on the front is, as to who he is. There is a quote “he’s a cold-blooded, mass-murdering clown” this gives the reader an idea of what the character on the front is like and also an insight as to what will be on the magazine. The cover lines are in white which stand out on the gloomy background, these tells us more about what will be in the magazine, this again tempts people to buy it so they can see what upcoming movies will be like.
