History of horror

History of horror Through the years horror has changed and so has the way the characters are protrude. For example in the first Dracula based film “nosferatu” the character that is supposedly the vampire is shown as a scary ugly monster man with long fingers and sharp teeth, this was a German film made in 1910. However today’s vampires are seen to be attractive human looking creatures. This is a dramatic change in the way vampires are seen as. Frankenstein was the first zombie based character, this fact has gone almost unnoticed as the creature isn’t like the “normal” type of zombies, and he is made of dead human parts and has been brought back to life. Although it wasn’t until the 60’s that zombies where properly introduced, one of the first zombie movies in was “dawn of the dead”, it was in black and white and it was later re made in colour in the 80’s. The first horror movies where silent movies that relied in music to build up the tension. When people would go to watch the movies there would often be an orchestra of some sort at the front of the theatre playing the music live to go with the movie, also the first movies where made by German express. In the 1940s the primal animal films started to come in, these films were purely American productions. One of the most popular films made was “werewolf in London”. Wolf movies were a huge hit at this time, these parts were often played by men however the first kind of women lead movie was “cat people” in 1942 this was a huge difference as it was a women playing the part. Nowadays there are so many different types of horror movies, this can be anything from vampires to ghosts to torture movies, the horror genre has a lot it can play on to scare people.
