The Women In Black

1. Who do you think the primary and secondary target audience is for The Woman in Black? Why?
I think the primary audience for the women in black would be horror fans, mainly on older audience as the film was adapted from a book and also is a play. However I think the secondary audience would be younger teenagers as it was only put at a 12 rating and also Daniel Radcliff’s fan base as he is the main star in the movie.

2. How was The Woman in Black marketed?
The women in black was widely marketed, it had a huge champagne as it was trying to attract a lot of different types of people. The marketing was from things such as billboards, posters, television interviews, magazine articles and other such things. Also because of the target audience the women in black was a lower rating, this attracts all ages. The fact that the main character was also a big star with a huge fan base this also helped the popularity of the film.

3. Do you think the marketing materials for the film were appropriate? Why?
I think they were appropriate because at the end of the day the movie was a huge success and made a lot of monkey back.

4. What kind of release did the film have?
The release was huge as it was released in 36 different countries from the 3rd of February 2012 and still be released on the 1st of December. It was shown in 412 UK cinemas and almost 3000 cinemas in the US.

5. How much did The Woman in Black cost to make?
The women in black had an estimated budget of $17 million and it made £14 million in the first three weeks.

6. Why do you think the film was so successful?
I think the main reason of its success was because of the main character casting, Daniel Radcliff has a huge fan base. Also another reason would be because the movie was a book and play before hand and many of the fans of the book and play would have gone to see how it was interpreted into a movie.
